Try this healthy twist on a classic snack favorite -- popcorn!
A delicious snack is just a few minutes away...
Popcorn can be a great snack for kids and adults alike! If you're a big fan of butter like I am, popcorn can easily turn from being healthy to being loaded with calories and saturated fat. This new twist on popcorn uses flax oil instead of butter. Flax oil is high in a heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acid called alpha linolenic acid.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup organic popcorn
2 tablespoons organic coconut oil
2 tablespoons flax oil
Instructions:
-Heat the coconut oil and 5 of the popcorn kernels over medium heat until they pop.
-Add the rest of the popcorn kernels and cook for 30 seconds.
-Remove from heat and shake the pan for 30 seconds.
-Put the pan back on the stove over medium heat until the popping slows down/stops.
-Remove from the stove and pour the popcorn into a large bowl.
-Drizzle with the flax seed oil.
-Add salt to taste.
